Years later, while walking past a book store, his name leapt out at me. A book! I'd never known that he'd written a book, but there it was, and a Pulitzer Prize winner, too! I dove into the store, bought the book, took it home and devoured it. It was like I had him back again.

It Began...   (a note from the playwright)

I attended St Mary's Dominican College in New Orleans. There I studied under the tutelage of John Kennedy Toole, known to his friends as Ken. To me, Mr. Toole was a lifeline, a mentor, a window into the world of words, story and life. It was a shock to learn that he had died, that he'd left us to fend for ourselves, but I moved on.

Although Mr. Toole's words were with me once more, it still wasn't enough. I learned more about more about him, his family, his book, his life. And I wanted to pay homage to my teacher. So, I wrote this play, "Mr. Toole" and entered it into the Estrogenius Festival. The feedback was so positive, I continued my efforts, expanded the story, and shared it with some friends and colleagues. They encouraged me to share it with others, and so I brought it to the Mid-Town International Theater Festival. There it played to mostly sold out audiences and received a lot of positive feedback. I can't wait to see what happens with it next!
